Being a small-town resident influenced me at an early age were Mark Twain and Ernest Hemingway, I recognized the escapist power of the written word, especially when the realities of life came crashing down around my young life.
Perhaps it was just a coping mechanism, but it too provided an escape for me.
Now as a grown adult, I’m looking back at that life which I had avoided and known so many others endured similar childhoods.
