Coco La Rue

Hello animal fans!

I wrote THE DOG RULES and THE DOG RULES #2: A NEW PIG IN TOWN using the nom de plume (also known as "pen name") Coco LaRue, while adopting the personality of a a cranky parrot.

I've written other books about animals under my actual name, Gabrielle Balkan. You might know BOOK OF BONES, which shows readers an animal skeleton, gives clues, and challenges readers to guess which animals have the biggest, smallest, and spikiest bones...among other record-breaking bones!

I've also written a handful of books about curious and essential places in the United States in THE 50 STATEs and 50 CITIES and their companion books.

Tiger Teacher created this lesson plan to use with 4th grade readers. She says:

"The Dog Rules by Coco La Rue is a hysterical novel about family pet rivalry. Your students will enjoy it immensely! (It is also available in Spanish for ELL students.)
