Tami Asars

Tami Asars is an outdoor writer, adventure speaker, backpacking guide, and nature photographer based in the Cascade foothills of Washington State. She’s the author of numerous trail guides, including Hiking the Wonderland Trail, Day Hiking Mount Adams and Goat Rocks, Hiking the PCT: Washington, Day Hiking Mount Rainier, Fall Color Hikes: Washington, and Day Hiking Snoqualmie Pass (all from Mountaineers Books).

Among her most exciting achievements is her recent memoir, Long Lost, an adventure-filled retelling of her thru-hikes on the PCT, CDT, and AT. With humor, grit, and trail-worn wisdom, she brings readers into the highs, lows, and unforgettable characters that shaped her 8,000 mile journey.

She’s also a partner with FarOut Guides on the Wonderland Trail app, which gives hikers an offline, GPS‑based map of the entire loop around Mount Rainier, complete with campsites, water sources, elevation profiles, and real‑time community insights.

In addition, Tami serves as a field‑data collector for Green Trails Maps, logging thousands of miles with precise GPS tracking to support the creation of accurate, reliable maps.

Her work appears widely as a contributor and columnist for magazines, outdoor publications, and online hiking resources.
