Valerie Haynes

Valerie Ann Larson Haynes is an author of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry, and the founding editor of the publishing group, Illume Writers & Artists. She studied political science at the University of Connecticut and began her career as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps, then as a professional staff member of the U.S. House of Representatives. She later became an independent writer, editor, and publisher in the arts and sciences.

Having a lifelong interest in helping people to manifest their visions, Valerie has been active in numerous groups to help people publish, perform, and display their works. In "Creative Provinces--A New World of Enchanting and Empowered Communities," Valerie combines her political and creative-organization ideas to form a new structure for intentional communities, based on private property.

Haynes is also the author of "New Colors--Poetic Creations and Paintings," a collaboration with her late twin brother, Vance A. Larson. Haynes has "invented" a series of new colors, which she describes with creative brilliance in philosophical imagery. Each new color is accompanied by breathtaking paintings by Larson spanning his 28-year artistic career, each suited to the philosophy of the represented color. The result is a gorgeous and thoughtful body of work that will be sought after for its beauty, depth, and originality.

Haynes is also the author of the modern fable, "Doctor Goldbunny," the first book in a trilogy for advanced middle-grade and adult readers, about a rabbit who becomes the Doctor of the Earth.
