Alicia Schooler-Hugg

Alicia Schooler-Hugg is a registered nurse, educator and former Op-Ed columnist who freelances for print media. She has received several journalism based awards, including three C. Everett Koop awards. Publications include The (Stockton) Record, the Modesto Bee, Nurseweek, Nursing Spectrum, and Nurse.com. Schooler-Hugg has written four books, Art and Soul of Jazz: A tribute to Charles Mingus, Jr (her uncle), Granny Does Europe: A Love Story, Harvesting Miracles, Solace for the Soul--her first book of poetry, and Naked and Opinionated, featuring selected OpEd columns from a Black perspective.

The author lives in Northern California with her husband.
