Boisy G. Pitre

Boisy Gene Pitre, Ph.D. is a computer scientist, inventor, entrepreneur, author, speaker, and professional software developer with over three decades of experience in embedded, real-time, and mobile computing. He began his career in 1992 at Microware Systems Corporation, developers of the OS-9 operating system, where he contributed as a software engineer until 2000.

Boisy’s academic work bridges performance and sustainability in computing. His 2010 master’s thesis, Compiler-Assisted Energy Reduction for Microprocessors: Measurement and Analysis, explored the intersection of time, space, and energy optimizations in compilers. In 2025, he completed his Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, further advancing research in hyper-efficient embedded systems.

A recognized author in both technical and historical computing literature, Boisy co-wrote CoCo: The Colorful History of Tandy’s Underdog Computer (2013) with Bill Loguidice, chronicling the legacy of the Tandy Color Computer. He is also the author of Swift for Beginners (Peachpit Press, 2014), with a second edition released in 2015.

Beyond his technical and academic pursuits, Boisy is an avid retro-computing enthusiast and accomplished Cajun musician, preserving both digital and cultural heritage with equal passion.
