John R Hassell

John R Hassell received a PhD in Developmental Biology from the University of Connecticut. He was a Research Biologist at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and then a Principal Investigator on grants from the NIH while a Professor at the University of Pittsburgh and the University of South Florida. He has published over 100 original peer reviewed articles in biomedical journals. Dr Hassell was a recipient of an NIH Directors Award, an NIH merit award and was given Professor Emeritus status at the University of South Florida. He held the Jules Stein Professorship at Pittsburgh and the Berry Endowed Chair at South Florida and served as the Director of Research at the Shriners Hospital for Children in Tampa, Florida.
