Sandra J Howell

Sandra J. Howell is a retired college professor and award-winning author. She writes with intention and purpose, and her stories explore current issues that matter to children and adults alike.

She values mentoring, especially among wise older women who support and inspire one another, and strives to show this in her writing. Her Samantha Steele mystery series explores the challenges American wild horses face and weaves them into each novel.

Her newest cozy mystery series, Izzy, the Reluctant Spy, deals with online dating scams and is a book club choice. The protagonist, Izzy Rose Franklin, is a sixty-nine-year-old woman who proves that change at any age keeps us young and vital.

The sequel to Izzy the Reluctant Spy, Izzy the Dogged PI, has been selected for book clubs and is available on Amazon.

Sandra also pens the award-winning Angel Club series with co-author Courtney Vail. The series tackles bullying and received a Unify Against Bullying grant, which enabled her to donate book sets to organizations in Western MA and to the Springfield Juvenile Court for National Adoption Day. The writing duo has also written two illustrated children’s books and a new YA series, Silver Horseshoes. The first in the series, Mustang Magic, is soon to become another award winner.

To share writing experiences, she co-founded the Western MA Authors Selling Books group and serves as its Facebook administrator. She has been a guest speaker at book clubs, cable shows, appeared on Podcasts, featured in local newspapers, and appeared on MASS Appeal.

Howell has recently been recognized by the ‘Thank You for Inspiring’ movement in Springfield, MA.
