James Goodwin

James H. Goodwin started writing after successful careers in children’s services and small business owner. He has always believed many life lessons can be told in stories. The ideas for his novels come from every day experiences but also reflect his previous careers. For many years, Goodwin was President and CEO of a children’s residential treatment, foster care and adoption agencies. He also was a highly regard psycho-therapist working with families and children. His profession helped him develop good listening skills which played a major role in his understanding the human condition. His stories deal with romance, mystery and often the struggles that people face in their everyday relationships.

Although Goodwin was raised on the north shore of Massachusetts, he has resided for many years in Michigan. He and his wife currently make their home along the shore of Lake Michigan in Manistee. For a decade they were owners and operators of the “best coffee shop” in northern Michigan. The over the counter conversations with customers offered many ideas for stories which along with his past career are often reflected in his books. To Find What Was Lost is his latest book and just so happens to be number one in a series about a small Michigan town called Manitou.
