My name is Steven Jackson; I am the founder of Central Oregon Community College’s creative writing club, A Novel Group of Writers. Furthermore, I am the Managing Editor of The Raconteurs' Muse, Central Oregon Community College’s Literary Journal. I write both Fiction and Creative Non-Fiction, and was a 2012 Semi-Finalist for The Norman Mailer Community College Writing Award.
Okay, time to move on to more imperative issues. I worship at the altar of Billiards, and every now and then it gets in the way of my writing. Yoga, Bee Pollen, and Intermittent Fasting are my drugs of choice. I consider Buddha a close personal companion and would love to shoot pool with him. I have been a practicing Vegetarian for approximately ten years, but I find the enticement of Fish Tacos irresistible.
Zero Dark Thirty and Silver Lining Playbook were superior movies to Argo. I'm not sure if I should admit to loving Django Unchained.
I don't understand the Kardashian phenomenon.
My favorite writers are Colson Whitehead, David Foster Wallace, and Margaret Atwood. Henry Miller was a genius, and everything Thich Nhat Hahn writes is germane to my life struggles. I feel guilty for not reading more, but sometimes life gets in the way. Actually, I shot pool instead of reading. The bar I shoot pool at has a Taco Tuesday night, and they serve amazing fish tacos. You already know.
God's greatest blessing as well as curse is the mind, and I am the poster child for this dichotomy.
A beautiful day for me is getting up at 4:30 and watch the sunrise while hiking with my dog Mojo. I come home and practice yoga for a couple of hours, go shoot pool with my wife, and spend the remainder of the day reclining in a wooden Adirondack chair on my back deck overlooking Sawyer Park, and writing. This is the perfect way to savor life.
