Jonas Parello-Plesner

Jonas Parello-Plesner is Executive Director of The Alliance of Democracies Foundation, a private foundation dedicated to strengthening cooperation among democracies world-wide, which hosts the annual Copenhagen Democracy Summit. The Foundation is founded and chaired by former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen.

Jonas Parello-Plesner has a background as a Danish diplomat with a focus on China and Taiwan. He was most recently Head of Department for Foreign Policy at the Danish Embassy in Washington, D.C. 2013-2017.

He has also worked as a Senior China Fellow for international think tanks in Washington, Brussels and London. He writes for Danish (Berlingske and Altinget) and international media from Politico to Wall Street Journal.
