Robert Denethon

Robert Denethon is a nom de plum and a character in his own footnotes. The real author lives in Lockridge, Western Australia with his naughty two year old puppy dog, a second-hand piano, and a bunch of burgeoning bookcases.

Robert Denethon says of his fiction: "My aim as an author is to write strong fiction in the tradition of Philip K Dick, Tolkien, Neal Stephenson, China Miéville, Naomi Novik, C S Lewis. I write for you to enjoy."

His books were written with you in mind if you like gripping fantasy and sci fi novels, some with strange footnotes, invented languages, unusual names, disturbing alternate realities, all with a slightly literary bent. In other words, he has attempted to write the kinds of books he likes to read.

Robert Denethon writes Steampunk, Alternate History, and Epic Fantasy. Robert Denethon's books are all set in the same multiverse, from the Gryphonomicon Gryphon-Dragon histories, set 12,500 years in the past, to Gryphonomicon Cryptogryph, set in an alternate London, Venice and Leipzig in 1851, to the Henry Lawson books set at the turn of the century in an alternate Australia, to the Steam Submarine series, set in the mid 1930s in an alternate London as well as Ultima Thule, and the other worlds on the World Tree, together with footnotes that weave a fictional tale about Robert Denethon through Denethon's poetry, and editorial notes that spin another yarn about the editor's search for Denethon through reading his notes.
