At the age of twelve, Emory Sharplin began drafting the first version of Scrap. The idea for the novel came in the form of a question while studying the conservation of energy: if energy could not be created or destroyed, could it be harnessed and collected? Writing Scrap gave Emory an exciting way to put her imagination to work. Emory completed Scrap during her junior year in high school while juggling a full course load of 8 classes. Currently, she lives in Austin, Texas, with her family. She is now writing the second book in the Grimmic Chronicles. She spends her spare time working on various creative projects and restoring a 1950 Chevy pick up truck with her grandfather. She hopes her work encourages young authors to continue writing and young imaginers to continue creating.
