Yevgen Barsukov

Yevgen Barsukov is the head of algorithm development in the battery management systems group at Texas Instruments Inc. and has been elected TI Fellow.

Barsukov specializes in applying leading theoretical methods of battery analysis to improve the battery controlling technology used for fuel-gauging, health and safety information in notebooks, mobile-phones, PDAs and other portable devices. During more than 10 years in TI, development of widely adopted in industry battery gauging methods such as Impedance Track contributed to leading market share position for TI in the areas of portable power management.

Prior to joining TI, his research was focused on Impedance Spectroscopy based testing and modeling of batteries. Yevgen Barsukov holds 24 US patents. He has presented in numerous international conferences, workshops and journal publications and co-authored a book "Impedance Spectroscopy" that is considered a standard reference in the field. He acts as the moderator of a popular impedance spectroscopy google discussion group.

His most recent book "Battery Power Management for Portable Devices" (with Jinrong Qian) provides an "all you need to know about batteries and battery management" design guide to assure best possible run time, cycle life, safety and cost for the immensely popular battery powered devices such as laptops and cell-phones.

Barsukov earned a Ms.C. degree in Organic Chemistry at Kiev National University in 1993 and a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Kiel Christian-Albrecht University in 1996.
