Guiding autistic and neurodivergent adults toward self-acceptance, relational clarity, and life beyond masking.

Autistic and neurodivergent adults often spend years wondering why life and relationships feel more complicated than they seem to for others. Barbara (Blaze) Lazarony, MA, LMFT writes for those seeking clarity, self-acceptance, and a way to live beyond masking.

Through her book Unmasked Self-Acceptance: 365 Days of Coming Home to Who You Really Are, the Love on the Autism Spectrum® body of work, the Neurodivergent Spiral of Life™, and the Love on the Autism Spectrum Podcast, she explores identity, relationships, and the lived experiences of neurodivergent adults with depth, compassion, and practical insight.

Barbara (Blaze) Lazarony, MA, LMFT is a psychotherapist, author, and relational pattern observer whose work centers on neurodivergent identity, self-acceptance, and authentic relationship dynamics. With decades of experience as a licensed marriage and family therapist, Blaze brings both clinical insight and lived understanding to the experiences of autistic and neurodivergent adults.

Her work focuses especially on individuals who discover their neurodivergence later in life—often after years of masking, misunderstanding, or feeling out of place. Through writing, teaching, and conversation, she helps readers recognize the patterns shaping identity, relationships, and emotional experience.

Blaze is the author of Unmasked Self-Acceptance, a guide for autistic and neurodivergent adults seeking to move beyond masking and self-criticism toward deeper self-understanding and self-trust.

She is also the creator of Love on the Autism Spectrum®, a body of work exploring neurodivergent relationship dynamics, and the Neurodivergent Spiral of Life™, a framework describing the stages of awareness, identity, and integration many neurodivergent adults experience.

Blaze hosts the Love on the Autism Spectrum Podcast, where she explores relationships, communication, identity, and personal growth through thoughtful conversations and lived relational insight.

Her work focuses on autism, neurodivergent identity, masking, self-acceptance, and the relational experiences of autistic and neurodivergent adults.

Why I Write

Many autistic and neurodivergent adults spend years—sometimes decades—trying to understand why life and relationships feel more complicated than they seem to for others.

Often there has been masking, misunderstanding, and a quiet sense of being “out of step,” even while building meaningful lives, careers, and relationships.

I write to create language for those experiences.

My work grows from being a neurodivergent psychotherapist and from listening closely to the relational patterns, emotional processes, and identity journeys that many neurodivergent adults move through—especially those who discover their neurodivergence later in life.

Rather than offering quick solutions, I focus on helping readers recognize patterns, understand themselves with greater compassion, and make sense of their relationships and life experiences.

When people can see their patterns clearly, something important happens: confusion softens, self-judgment loosens, and a more authentic relationship with oneself becomes possible.

That recognition is where real self-acceptance begins.
