Kira Vermond

Hey kids! Kira Vermond received her first (friendly) rejection letter from a kids' magazine when she was 11, but that didn’t stop her from wanting to be a writer. Today, she’s a prolific author and journalist with over 2,000 published articles and seven books – plus two more on the way. Her book, Why We Live Where We Live won the Norma Fleck Award for Canadian Children’s Non-Fiction while, Trending: How and Why Stuff Gets Popular earned the Forest of Reading Yellow Cedar Award and was a Kirkus Best Book. Her latest book, The Buzz on Wild Bees was released October 2025.
