Dr. David Samuel spent 30 years as a professor of wildlife management at West Virginia University. Since 1971 he has been the Conservation Editor of Bowhunter Magazine, where his Know Hunting column still appears.
He presently serves on several boards and continues as the Conservation Editor and Know Hunting columnist for Bowhunter magazine. His greatest honor was being inducted into the Archery Hall of Fame in 2007. In 2009 he received the Deer Management Career Achievement Award from the Southeastern Section of The Wildlife Society, and the Joe Hamilton Lifetime Achievement Award from the Quality Deer Management Association. Now retired from University work, Dr. Samuel spends his time writing, bowhunting, doing game dinner talks in churches, and gardening.
"Dr. Dave" believes that there still is a place for hunt story books. He wrote "An Empty Quiver" after friends and readers encouraged him to share his stories. No question though, he also wanted to chronical his hunting career for his seven-year-old granddaughter, Reese. That alone made the effort worthwhile, but "Dr Dave" hopes that you will find these adventures fun and stimulating. "I've tried to personalize this book, and hope you enjoy this fact."
