Vanessa Shields

I'm a writer and mother living in Windsor, Ontario. I began my writing life as a child writing in journals and writing poetry to ease me through the hills of life. I own a small business called Gertrude's Writing Room - A Gathering Place for Writers. It's a mobile creative writing school where I offer workshops, classes, editorial and mentoring experiences. I also teach classes and workshops in the education system (elementary to post-secondary), as well as for libraries and other writing groups/communities.

My poetry, short stories, short fiction, photographs, collage art and articles have been published in a myriad of literary magazines and publications.

I love to make readers laugh, and to provoke emotional responses that result in vulnerable conversations.
