Stefania Shaffer

Stefania Shaffer traded a successful career in corporate America for the middle school classroom as an English Language Arts teacher in a bold move for a second career.

Now a veteran teacher leader writing elective curriculum focusing on college and career readiness, she is also a keynote speaker about the importance of making that student connection.

Outside of education conferences, she has become a resource for adult children caring for elderly parents who wish to age in place.

She writes Middle-Grade Fiction, and Non-Fiction for adults. Her first MG novel, Heroes Don’t Always Wear Capes, is about a student finally finding a few extraordinary teachers who become her heroes for life. Her Mischief Series about little mischief-makers in elementary and how they grow forward released in 2017.

Her Non-Fiction includes the Memoir, 9 Realities of Caring for an Elderly Parent: A Love Story of a Different Kind, in which she unveils the gritty realities Boomers will face in this funny, and compassionate account of their daunting role if they are the adult child coming home to care for an elderly parent until the very end.

The Companion Playbook is the accompanying workbook chock full of task lists and worksheets for the busy caregiver to start on today.

Her public speaking credits include major San Francisco media on KGO/Ronn Owens, KQED/Michael Krasny, KTVU/Bay Area People and education conferences, including the national Gates Ed Foundation for teacher leaders known as ECET2--Elevating and Celebrating Effective Teachers and Teaching. She lives in Northern California with her family.
