Unlike most writers, Susan didn’t walk around with a story burning inside of her just begging to get out. However, when she learned human sex trafficking was taking place in America, she couldn't remain silent. She had to learn all I could and share it in as many ways as possible. She learned the average age of girls taken into the sex trade is between 12 and 14 years old. It's been her experience as an educator that young girls rarely pick up a nonfiction book unless they have a class assignment requiring them to do so, but they'll readily read fiction. So, Susan combined actual stories and information from survivors, detectives, and a former pimp to pen the Young Adult novel Rescuing Hope.
Susan has volunteered time with organizations fighting domestic trafficking such as Out of Darkness, Not For Sale, Wellspring Living and Resolution Hope. She looks for opportunities to promote these organizations any chance she gets for the great work they're doing. She’s had the privilege of walking through life alongside several survivors and is humbled by their strength and willingness to fight for a life of wholeness and healing.
Susan loves reading, cooking, scrapbooking, Chai Lattes and spending time with family and friends.
