Jelena Kovačević is the William R. Berkley Professor and Dean at the Tandon School of Engineering at New York University. She was the Hamerschlag University Professor and Head of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. Her research interests include applying data science to a number of domains such as biology, medicine and smart infrastructure; she is an authority on multiresolution techniques, such as wavelets and frames.She is a passionate educator and loves writing textbooks. She is the author of Wavelets and Subband Coding (1995) and Foundations of Signal Processing (2014), and has an upcoming textbook with Cambridge University Press, Fourier and Wavelet Signal Processing (http://www.fourierandwavelets.org).
