Ian Hay

Born in Shipley, West Yorkshire, Ian Hay moved with his family to the US Air Force base in Isfahan, Iran where he spent happy, formative years.

Ian developed a passion for photography, a passion that would go on to shape his career.

Selected for his exceptional visual abilities, he served with JSIG, providing photographic intelligence to Joint Services. Ian later joined the Metropolitan Police Air Support Unit in London and qualified as an air observer/photographer. His aerial video work was featured in the TV series Police, Camera, Action.

In 2000, Ian started an aerial photography and video business, Above All Images and went on to develop unique aerial techniques producing stunning images and video. He took the photography for over twenty hardback publications including ‘London from the Air’ and ‘Football Grounds from the Air’. In recognition of his professional photography skills, Ian was accredited by both the BIPP and MPA.

In 2005, Ian was invited to give a keynote speech introducing covert stereo photographic surveillance techniques at a NATO summit in Athens and has gone on to provide technical data for surveillance publications. He was also employed by Google to provide detailed European airspace data.

Somehow, he finds the time to maintain his interests of scuba diving, mountain climbing and paramotor flying as well as writing.

His first work of fiction, Moonbeam, was published in April 2020 and is a gripping story of the accidental discovery at Area 51 of the explosive power of orange dust collected from the Moon by Apollo 17. It has the ability to change the world forever but when shady international players get involved, the race is on to keep it - and the world - safe and secure.
