Christopher A. Hartwell

Dr. Christopher A. Hartwell is President of CASE - Center for Social and Economic Research in Warsaw (www.case-research.eu), Associate Professor at Kozminski University in Poland, and a leading scholar on institutional economics. Dr. Hartwell's research concerns transition dynamics, the economics of institutions, and property rights and business environment reforms. He has written widely on macroeconomic and international trade subjects, and has taught and conducted trainings on macroeconomics and growth issues throughout the CIS. Additionally, he has worked for the World Bank Group, as well as advising governments on economic policy issues in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Poland, Afghanistan, Croatia, Bosnia, Kosovo, and Germany. He holds a PhD in Economics from the Warsaw School of Economics and a Master's in Public Policy from Harvard, as well as BA in Political Science and Economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
