As a writer, I explore topics such as how we communicate, and how our communication impacts our relationships. I’m interested in the questions: where and what is home; how does a spiritual life, especially Zen Buddhism, impact lives? What matters in this life, and how can we make a positive impact? I investigate these questions in my books and plays.
My first book, “The Key To The Castle: Zen and Travel Stories of Trust” explores inner and outer journeys. In short chapters, the book highlights similar experiences of traveling to new places with that of being a new student of Zen.
My second book, “Cultivating A Mindful Life” includes short essays that were first written in my monthly newsletter and then revised for this book. To subscribe to the newsletter, visit my website, Life and Leadership Coaching. https://www.lifeandleadershipcoaching.com/
Since 2015 I have been exploring playwriting. I have written three plays and produced one of them, “Take Down The Letters,” which was a wonderful learning experience. Two of my plays can be read on New Play Exchange, https://newplayexchange.org/users/28441/sue-schleifer
I live in Oakland, CA having recently returned after living for twelve years in Lafayette, LA. I enjoy hiking, Pilates, writing, attending live theater, dance, and music, and cooking and eating meals outdoors with my husband and friends.
