Bill Clayson

William S. Clayson is Professor of History at the College of Southern Nevada. His first book "Freedom is Not Enough: The War on Poverty and the Civil Rights Movement" (University of Texas Press, 2010), was awarded the T.R. Fehrenbach Award by the Texas Historical Commission for the Best Book in Texas History for 2010. He also published chapters in Brian Behnken, ed., "The Struggle in Black and Brown: African American and Mexican American Relations During the Civil RIghts Era" and Annelise Orleck and Lisa Gayle Hazirijan, eds., "The War on Poverty: A Grassroots History." Bill remains a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army Individual Ready Reserve. He deployed to Afghanistan twice and once to Kuwait in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He lives in Las Vegas with his kids: a teen-aged daughter and son, two cats and three dogs.
