Mauricio Garita

Mauricio Garita (born in 1983)

An academic focused in the conjunction of business, economics and politics. He obtained his PhD in Political Science and Sociology from the Universidad Pontificia de Salamanaca at Spain. His thesis centered on the application of game theory to the Civil War in Guatemala that lasted from 1960 until 1996. This PhD thesis gave birth to his first book as an author titled "La Locura es Racional" (translated as Madness is Rational) where he explains the relation between social, economic and political factors in the rationality of war.

Before his PhD he obtained a Masters in Conflict Resolution and Mediation from the Universidad de León at Spain and a Master in Science from Manchester Business School in the United Kingdom. This last degree led to the book he co-author concerning international business in Latin America, given that Latin America is one the passions of the authors.

As an academic he teaches at his home country, Guatemala in various faculties of such as the Faculty of Law, Economic and Business Administration, International Commerce and Finance. He has taught at master´s level and bachelor levels subjects such as game theory, international business in Latin America, economic thought and strategic administration.

He is married and has three boxers dogs.
