Dana Holyfield

Dana Holyfield is a Louisiana author from Slidell whose books celebrate the rich culture, folklore, cuisine, and outdoor traditions of the Louisiana bayous.

Her first cookbook, Swamp Cookin' with the River People, was originally published in 1999 and has been updated and expanded over the years. She later released the popular novelty cookbook Cajun Sexy Cooking, combining authentic Cajun recipes with humor, colorful storytelling, and entertaining photographs that capture the unique lifestyle of the people who call Honey Island Swamp home. Dana has since self-published several additional Cajun-themed cookbooks, each offering readers a taste of Louisiana's distinctive food and culture.

Beyond cooking, Dana is widely recognized for her research into the legendary Honey Island Swamp Monster. Her documentary-style book and documentary film on the subject have earned her appearances on numerous national television programs, including Mysteries at the Museum on the Travel Channel, Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files on the Syfy Channel, Swamp People, Book TV, and Hannity's America on Fox News, among others.
