Mohammad Gharipour

Mohammad Gharipour is an ACSA Distinguished Professor, Professor, and Director of the Architecture Program at the University of Maryland, and President of the Society of Architectural Historians. He earned his PhD from the Georgia Institute of Technology and is an award-winning scholar supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities, Fulbright, and the American Institute of Architects. Gharipour is the author, editor, or co-editor of sixteen books on Islamic architecture, urbanism, and architectural history, including Bazaar in the Islamic City, Persian Gardens and Pavilions, Synagogues of the Islamic World, and Epidemic Urbanism. He is the founder and director of the International Journal of Islamic Architecture and co-founder of the Epidemic Urbanism Initiative.
