He has had numerous poems published in South African and international publications and was listed in the International Who's Who of Poetry in 2012.
While in South Africa he was in two bands Hakuna matata and US United Souls and produced three CD's David Nicoll and friends Vols. 1,2 and 3 which include tracks from these bands and many other musician friends including Madala Kunene and Steve Newman. They are
David Nicoll and friends Vols. 1,2 and 3.
Also along with Mervyn Fuller in musical poetic collaborations where he was the lyricist, they produced six CDs, Treat it so, This is MAD 2, On days like these, The best of MAD, The beat goes on and On the home straight.
Mervyn would call him and say Write something about this....
This prompt would then spark him to write the lyrics, Mervyn would then create the track and bring his friends Mike Pregnolatu on Lead guitar and Mike Laatz on Saxophone in to add to the tracks. The idea behind this is for you to listen to whatever track title that you resonate with.
