Marianne Henio

I was born in 1963 in the West Midlands, UK. I attended Staffordshire University in my early 30s and graduated with a BA(Hons) Degree in The History of Art and Design, followed by a Masters Diploma in The Theory of European Design and Visual Culture. I have worked within the field of arts and crafts ever since, practicing as Art Critic, Historian, Writer, Knitwear Designer, and more recently as a Speaker.

My first book was written due to my fascination with the availability of material in the Public Domain and my wish to share this discovery with others: 'Making Money from Old Books: How to Create an eBook from Public Domain Material'.

My second book came about as a result of running an online gallery representing artists whose work falls within the genre of 'the representation of women in art'. The artists were interviewed about their work and the interviews were then used for the book within an art historical framework. The book's title is 'Images of Women in Art - What the Artists have to Say'.

My most recent publication, 'How to Build a Website from Scratch: A Step by Step Guide', is the first in a series of books which are intended as guides for business minded people wishing to add skills and tools to their hobbies or businesses. These books are very straight forward and easy to follow, and I lay out all the steps necessary to develop the skills needed to become competent in the area of discussion.

Recently launched as my full time business and company, HenioCreative, I am also publishing an ongoing series of hand and machine knitting pattern books which bring together a number of my designs in this creative field. Hand and machine knitting have been a passion of mine for nearly 30 years now. Starting with my Spring Collection, and followed by my Summer, Autumn and Winter Collections, I intend to publish the patterns for my designs every season on an ongoing basis. The patterns are intended as simple and easy to follow. The designs are modern and elegant, and hopefully reflect my love of colour, art, style and design.
