I currently suffer from ME, also known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I became ill whilst studying for a PhD at the University of Cambridge, following a 1st class degree from that university. I had to withdraw from the PhD after completing one year of study.
As a consequence of my illness, I started researching the adequacy of the 'safety net' for disabled and chronically ill people in Great Britain. What I found was deeply concerning, particularly coupled with the depth of mis-information commonly held as true. This led to my writing this book, in the hope that it would allow the non-disabled community to easily access correct information about disability, chronic illness and the welfare system.
