I am a wife of 54 years, a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, sister-in-law and mother -in-law. Actually just a regular person with virtually no talent for writing. The only thing that makes me different is that I went through 45 years of a disability so severe that I had to depend on other people most of the time.
I had agoraphobia and severe panic attacks for 45 years. I found that my problem and most people who have agoraphobia have one thing in common. The problem is with their eyes. They have a condition where one eye is higher than the other. This condition is called vertical hyperphoria. Some people have this worse than others. You have to have help from a knowledgeable optometrist. I went to Vision Specialist of Michigan.
The odd part of this disability is that, I was the only one who really knew I had it. I would tell my family members and friends but they could not understand what I was talking about. In fact I could not understand what was wrong either and could not explain it even too myself. Until one day I had a ah ha moment and spent the next five years ridding my self of it.
I know other people have this debilitating disability and have written my one and only book to reach them and the members of my family. I was inspired by the book "The Glass Castle" by Jennet Walls. By writing my story I could send it to my family members and hopefully it would reach other people who would need it.
I do not consider myself an author but a person on a mission.
I have started a blog at agoraphobiawhat.blogspot.com. Please visit me there and ask any question you want. Looking forward to hearing from you. Yolanda
