Tariq Farooq

Tariq Farooq is an Oracle technologist who has been working with various Oracle technologies in very complex environments at some of the world’s largest organizations for over 25 years. He is the founder and CEO of BrainSurface, a social networking & IT collaboration website with thousands of members in multiple Oracle communities. At BrainSurface, Tariq anchored the VirtaThon Internet Radio series program and organized three different conference series, including VirtaThon (the largest online-only conference for the multiple Oracle domains), CloudaThon and RACaThon.

Tariq organized a variety of Oracle conferences including the OTN Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Tour, and the first ever Oracle-centric conference at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2011. An award winning speaker, Tariq has presented at almost every major Oracle conference worldwide, including Oracle OpenWorld, COLLABORATE, IOUG, OOUG, OUGLC, TCOUG, UKOUG, and the OTNExpert+ Conference. Tariq was also the Founding President of the IOUG Virtualization & Cloud Computing Special Interest Group.

Tariq is an Oracle RAC Certified Expert, holds a total of 14 professional Oracle Certifications and is the author of 100+ articles and white papers. Tariq is the co-author of the Expert Oracle RAC 12c, Building DB Clouds in Oracle 12c, Oracle Database Problem Solving and Troubleshooting Handbook, and Oracle Exadata Expert's Handbook.
