Deborah J. Stewart, M.Ed. was born in Dermott, Arkansas. She is one of six children. She is a wife, mother, and grandmother to two grandsons.
Deborah first began her journey in early childhood education in the inner city of Houston, Texas where she taught her first class of three-and-four year old children. None of her students spoke English but she discovered that communication and collaboration can happen naturally through play, acts of kindness, respect for each other, and a common love for new experiences and learning.
Deborah now runs her own private preschool in Indiana where she observes and documents her experiences in early learning as she teaches her own class of children ages three through prekindergarten. She has been teaching, writing, speaking, and leading others in the field of early childhood education for over 25 years.
Deborah's book "Ready for Kindergarten" comes from her 30+ years of personal and professional experiences in helping young children prepare for a successful experience in school. She firmly believes that the most important gifts you can give your child is a love for learning and the confidence to try.
Deborah currently has one children's music CD "Simple Songs for Preschool" and she shares her insightful early learning observations through her blog titled "Teach Preschool" with teachers and parents all over the world.
