Lorraine Cobcroft

Lorraine (Rainey) Cobcroft is an Australian author of emotionally layered psychological family dramas and contemporary women’s fiction. Known for writing character-driven stories shaped by profound lived experiences, she dives deep into family secrets, emotional inheritance, and the unseen forces that shape our lives.

Born in Armidale, New South Wales, Lorraine’s childhood was split between two starkly different worlds—from a close-knit, working-class Australian country town to the contrasting culture of coastal California during her teenage years. Later in life, navigating a traumatic legal battle deepened her lifelong fascination with identity, trauma, institutional justice, and the lasting impact of childhood on adult choices.

After decades working as a professional technical and business writer, Lorraine dedicated her retirement to her true passion: fiction and creative nonfiction. Her novels combine the grip of domestic suspense with an unflinching look at resilience and moral dilemmas.

She is the author of three standalone novels:

'The Pencil Case'

'Mortgaged Goods'

'A Will of Deceit'

Lorraine lives in Australia, where she is currently working on her fourth novel, 'In Deceit’s Shadow’, as well as a highly anticipated memoir titled 'Then Came Jack'.Click the yellow "Follow" button to be automatically notified by Amazon whenever Lorraine releases a new book!
