Crystal Black Davis

Crystal Black-Davis is an author, food industry executive, entrepreneur, and food policy scholar whose work sits at the intersection of business, food, culture, and human connection.

With nearly two decades of experience in the consumer packaged goods industry, Crystal has helped launch, grow, and scale food brands across the United States and international markets. She has held executive leadership roles for global food companies, advised entrepreneurs and emerging brands, and worked on projects spanning food policy, sustainability, agricultural development, and international trade. Her experience includes partnerships with organizations and stakeholders across West Africa, the Caribbean, Europe, and North America, helping food businesses navigate growth while creating meaningful economic and social impact.

Crystal is the founder of The Kitchen CEO, an educational platform dedicated to helping food entrepreneurs build successful, sustainable businesses. Through her books, speaking engagements, workshops, and consulting work, she translates complex food industry concepts into practical guidance for founders at every stage of their journey. She is also the founder of Savvy Food Consulting, where she advises food companies, nonprofits, and institutions on strategy, growth, sustainability, and market development.

A lifelong student of food and its role in society, Crystal earned a master's degree focused on Food Policy from Boston University and completed executive studies in Food Industry Management through Cornell University. Her academic work has explored topics ranging from agricultural value chains and international trade to sustainability, food equity, and the cultural significance of food around the world.

As a novelist, Crystal brings the same depth of curiosity and understanding of human behavior to her fiction. Her stories explore reinvention, relationships, ambition, family, friendship, and the complex choices women face throughout life's many seasons. Drawing inspiration from the communities, cultures, and experiences that have shaped her own journey, she creates characters who are intelligent, aspirational, imperfect, and deeply relatable.

Crystal is the author of the business book series The Kitchen CEO, the entrepreneurial guide Start Where You Are, and fiction novels Shaken and Stirred (available now) and All I Knead (launching Q1 2027).

She is a proud wife, mother, community leader, and silver star member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Whether writing about food businesses, global food systems, or the lives of women navigating change, Crystal's work is guided by a belief that growth is always possible and that every meaningful journey begins exactly where you are.
