Carlin B. Carpenter

Former head football coach and director of athletics at Bluffton College, Carlin Carpenter retired from coaching in 2002 after winning a Bluffton College record of 103 games. At the time of his retirement, he was the dean of active Ohio college head football coaches. Carpenter served Bluffton as head football coach for 24 years, and 23 years as director of athletics. He is in the Bluffton University Athletic Hall of Fame, as well as the Athletic Hall of Fame at his alma mater, Defiance College. He has held coaching positions at Defiance College, Ohio University, and served as defensive coordinator at Marshall University. He is presently Professor Emeritus at Bluffton University. Carpenter is a U.S. Navy veteran.
