I’m a journalist, podcast producer and former BBC editor.

I became fascinated by Britain's Islamic communities while producing a BBC 1xtra documentary "Islamic Pride" in 2004. I could not find a book that explained the beliefs and practices of Britain's mainstream Islamic groups so I spent seven years researching the topic in my spare time. "Medina in Birmingham, Najaf in Brent" is the result.

I'm also the author of the chapter on the Muslim Brotherhood in Britain included in "The Muslim Brotherhood in Europe" (published by C Hurst & Co in 2012).
