Stephen B. Waters

Stephen B. Waters is president and publisher of the Rome (NY) Daily Sentinel, the fifth generation of his family to run the 9,000 circulation newspaper. Stephen's 2010 book, “Individuals, Journalism, and Society” examined why the 20th century did not live up to its promise, how institutions and the fabric of society are at risk, and what can be done to generate the courage to salvage character, sense of purpose, and the trajectory of society.

Previously, Stephen was a computer jock for a university computer center in the Netherlands, coded software for IBM, and an exchange student to Australia. He graduated with majors in history and political science at Colgate University. Stephen produced and hosted the half-hour “Mohawk Valley Voices” over two years for WCNY-TV, and shot and edited the 72-minute "Woodstock '99: A reporter's Notebook."

Stephen’s just published book, “Take Back Your News: Clearing away the rubble” is now available on Amazon.

Stephen and his wife, Wendy, an elementary school principal, live in Rome where they raised their two children, Brad and Sarah.
