Richard Fitchen

Richard Fitchen's life is a combination of the physical and the intellectual. He worked as a firefighter, land surveyor, and National Guardsman before completing three graduate degrees, including a PhD in political science from UC Santa Barbara. He taught undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Washington's School of Communications, and he went on to build library collections as the social sciences bibliographer at Yale and then at Stanford for a dozen years. While at Stanford, he was also head of the main library's large reference department for social sciences and humanities.

Fitchen moved from Stanford directly to writing a story blending fact and fiction about America's national experience in five volumes, based on five lifetimes and generational battles over two and half centuries. The Series title is An America Saga, and the fifth and final volume--Proof of Concept, Bibi's America--completes the Saga through 2016.
