I live in Hollywood with my record collection and my wife. I was a journalist for three decades and now I write books.
My first effort was "Strange Days: The Adventures of a Grumpy Rock 'n' Roll Journalist in Los Angeles," a groovy, sardonic, gossipy, rock bio that was nominated in the the nonfiction book category at the Los Angeles' Press Club's National Arts & Entertainment Awards. Learn more about the book at www.strangedaysbook.com and about me at www.deangoodman.com.
Next I collaborated with Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Artimus Pyle on a memoir about his life and times in Lynyrd Skynyrd, America's greatest rock 'n' roll band. We hope to release it by the end of 2021.
In my spare time, I discovered and republished a forgotten colonial memoir from the 1930s by a tough-talking New Zealand granny, Susan McKearney. "Just Me: The Life Story of a Nobody" is like a Down Under version of Little House on the Prairie, but more brutal.
