Ali Chavoshian

Dr. Ali Chavoshian has been working in the fields of water resources management and water-related disaster since 1994. He has more than ten years international professional experiences in several water-related projects in Asia, North America and Africa in particular flood vulnerable areas in Canada, China, Ghana, Iran, Japan, Mekong River Basin (Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam), Myanmar, Nigeria and Philippines. He was in-charge of the International Flood Initiative (IFI) Secretariat consisting of representatives from UNESCO, WMO, UNU and UNISDR for six years from 2007. Dr. Chavoshian was the main organizer of the 5th International Conference on Flood Management (ICFM5) in Tokyo in September 2011. He has served as the guest editor for the Journal of Flood Risk Management and Journal of Disaster Research. His other book on "Large-scale Floods Report" has been published by ICHARM under the auspices of UNESCO. Dr. Chavoshian is a member of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO), committee on disaster risk management in CTI Engineering, Tokyo, Japan. His membership recommended by Japan Academy of Science in September 2012. He has joined Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST) in Tehran since November 2011.
