Scott graduated from Ohio State in 1965 with a degree in History. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Marine Corps. During nine years on active duty he, among many other things, served in the infantry in Vietnam, attended Russian language school, was assigned as a cryptologist aboard various submarines of the US Pacific Fleet, and taught infantry tactics at The Basic School. His 15 seconds of fame came in the best selling book, Blind Man's Bluff, by Sherry Sontag. After resigning his commission, Scott worked for two defense contractors before starting his own firm, Performance Training Inc., in 1982. An expert in computer-based-instruction and the application of computers to intelligence and command & control systems, Scott co-founded VisiCom Laboratories in 1989 when his firm was incorporated into the new company; Scott became a Senior Vice President, a position he kept until 1998, when VisiCom was sold. He earned a Master's Degree in Military History from American Military University after retiring from the defense business. He subsequently founded eHistory.com, a content-rich site that was donated to The Ohio State University in 2003. Scott spends his springs and summers in Montana, winters in Southern California, and falls traveling with the football Buckeyes! He is currently co-writing Volume 3 of a multi-volume biography of General Al Gray, the 29th Commandant of the Marine Corps.
