O. E. McBride

Born and raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Ron Owens served more than thirty years with the Oklahoma City Police Department (OCPD) before retiring in 2000 as the Captain in charge of the Criminal Intelligence and Gang Evforcement Unit. A graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma, he spent his first 18 years on the force as a patrolman and detective including 8 years in Homicide. 11 years as a hostage negotiator on the Tactical Team and other ssignments in Narcotics, Sex Crimes and Forgery. As a Lieutenant, he was one of the two instructors for the OCPD's first official training course for investigating officer-involved shootings.

He is a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the Oklahoma Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association, the Oklahoma Historical Society, the Sons of Confederate Veterans, the Sons of Union Vtereans of the Civil War and the First Families of the Twin Territories.

He lives in Oklahoma City, sharing his retirement with his son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren.
