I grew up in L.A. and was the oldest of 5 kids. We didn't have much money but we always had ideas. We made the bridge of the Starship Enterprise out of cardboard and a tiny Egyptian tomb that we buried in the side yard for future archaelogists to find. We read the Prydain books and Narnian books and had a Narnian club with costumes that 'Queen Susan' (my sister, Kim) made from thrift store clothes. We had a great childhood. I like to write about average kids who get involved in unexpected and weird adventures because that's what I loved reading when I was a kid. That kind of story makes you believe that someday something magical could happen to you. And even though I never found a meteor to give me super powers, I still look for one because you never know. My new book is about some kids who find a genie bottle. You can imagine the crazy problems that they'll have.
