My life was saved twice by my dogs - once when a man tried to kill me and once, as a small child when I was trapped in deep rushing water. Now with eighteen years of combined work with search and rescue, forensic crime scene and narcotics recovery, and therapy canines, I have gathered a collection of diverse dog stories that celebrate and begins to explain the innate instincts and senses that enable their connection to man.My experience covers an unusually diverse group of specialties and has enabled me to develop a unique perspective about an underlying aspect of all canines. Their innate senses are mans lifeline in situation after situation. They provide a tremendous value throughout the world, but it is those same innate senses that can be very problematic when not properly channeled. Attempting to extinguish behaviors driven by innate instincts has created a world full of frustrated dogs and people. Everyone with a dog will want the relationships developed between the partners in these stories. Hopefully they will see how those bonds are the development of trust and communication while working toward a common goal.
