George McBean was born in Edinburgh Scotland in 1948. He joined UNICEF as the Art and Design Officer for Eastern Africa in 1977. He retired after working as Head of Graphics and Animation at UNICEF HQ New York. His career spanned 36 years of service for the United Nations.
George then began writing and in 2011 and his first book, Children of the Moon, was published as a 'thriller' for English speaking teens in East Africa.
His latest book, Mainly Fair Throughout The Kingdom is influenced greatly by the author's knowledge of Nepal where he also lived and worked for seven years for UNICEF. This fictional story combines his personal interest in yoga within a tale of travel, hardship and love.
George now lives with his wife and fellow author, Sara Cameron McBean in Edinburgh.
