Dr Graham L Banes is an award-winning writer, speaker and evolutionary biologist, and author of children's non-fiction. The first book to be published under his own name, 'The Kingfisher Encylopedia of Life', was nominated twice for national 'Book of the Year' awards in Austria and Germany. His books have been translated and published in 18 languages.
Graham studied Zoology at the University of British Columbia, Canada, before graduating from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland. Over six years, he lived among the wild orang-utans of Tanjung Puting National Park, Indonesian Borneo, earning Master's and doctoral degrees from the University of Cambridge in England. Graham later held fellowships at Germany's Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology, and at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Shanghai. He joined the faculty of the University of Wisconsin — Madison in 2017.
