Hollis A. Thomas

Hollis A. Thomas, M.D., is a retired physician and Air Force colonel who had a long and distinguished career in military and academic medicine. He is a former professor of interventional and diagnostic radiology at three medical schools and has authored numerous medical journal articles.

This book represents the most extensive compilation of the descendants of John Thomas of Jamestown, R.I., to date. It is the result of some 20 years of extensive research that included innumerable visits to public and private libraries; county, state and regional historical societies; municipal courthouses and clerk offices; cemeteries; and the National Archives. In addition, much corroborative and collaborative information was generously provided by other individuals who have researched lines of this family. Identifying, tracing and researching the members of this family through their cycles of migration and settlement eventually resulted in this work.

Dr. Thomas and his wife, Yvonne, live near the Wilderness Battlefield in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. In addition to genealogy, their interests include jogging, cycling, traveling, collecting antique medical instruments, reading, photography and gardening.
