I am a Professor of Computer Science at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. My research group concentrates on cross-cutting problems related to trust, information processing and retrieval, and network science. As part of this general direction, I coordinated a multi-disciplinary research effort in trust in networks that spans five multi-university centers (ns-cta.org) in its formative years. I and my students are most interested in understanding how people make decisions and how trust in its many different guises impacts these decisions. My group works closely with researchers from social and cognitive psychology. We apply insights from these fields to computer science, and at the same time use computer science methods to improve the understanding in these fields.
